The Victorian Era

I believe the 5.9/6.0 magnitude earthquake in Victoria, Melbourne, Australia on September 22, 2021 is a prophetic marker of a new era—the Victorian Era.

As I saw the headline on a YouTube video, Queen Victoria instantly came to mind. I KNEW to begin researching Queen Victoria. To be honest, I thought maybe I would see the photo of the current queen of England. As it turns out, her name is Queen Elizabeth III. In case you need any convincing, I am smart, not THAT smart. Therefore, only Holy Spirit can get this credit. Only God can have His glory for what He allows me to see and how He fills in the need-to-know blanks along the way.

The Victorian Era named after Queen Victoria of Great Britain is said to have lasted 63 years and seven months—from June 20, 1837-January 22, 1901, which is also the time of her reign (Wikipedia). Before the Victorian era was the Georgian period. After the Victorian era was the Edwardian period. Differences in various values ushered in each new era. According to Wikipedia.com, the later years of the Victorian era also intersects with the initial years of what is known as the Belle Époque (1871-1880 and the beginning of WWI), a French term which means “Beautiful Epoch”. The word epoch means era, age, period, time. This time for France was considered a “Golden Age” across Europe (Wikipedia). Furthermore, this time period for France saw prosperity in various areas: the economy, technology, the arts, and politics (peace and the expansion of territory) (Wikipedia). Essentially, it “BOOMED.”

To go back a bit, on January 2, 2021 when NOTHING looked like what I will share below, I felt led to release a Word on Instagram with the title “Golden Age.” God does not do coincidences. I still believe what I boldly declared then.

Before I continue with the Victorian era, as this is the time period I feel led to dive into, it is important to mention that a major legislative change: The Reform Act 1832, took place just years before Queen Victoria’s reign began (June 20, 1837-January 22,1901). According to Wikipedia, this Act brought significant transformations to the electoral system of The United Kingdom and Wales’ governing body (parliament). Simultaneously, “There was a strong religious drive for higher moral standards led by nonconformist churches, such as the Methodists, and the Evangelical wing of the established church of England.” Wikipedia further states that this time period was known for turning away from the philosophical nature of the previous period (Georgian) and opted instead for the “romanticism” and “mysticism” associated with religion. One can argue what caused the positive changes in society at this time, but history will show these positive changes occurred following a reconnection with religion. We therefore cannot rule out what impact God has on a society. People of God, while mankind will walk according to their own understanding, God’s people are to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). We are to also, according to Proverbs 3:5, trust the Lord with our entire heart and allow Him to direct our ways. As it turns out, the logical philosophies of the Georgian period when compared to God, were unsatisfactory as evidenced by the multitude of innovations and societal improvements that took place during the Victorian era, not the Georgian period.

The reason it is important to highlight this legislative change is because of its prefix RE. The word REform means: make changes in (something, typically a social, political, or economic institution or practice) in order to improve it (Google). Some synonyms or words with similar meaning are: rectify, mend, rehabilitate, change, revamp, redo, revolutionize, transform…

In 2020, God revealed to me that 2021 would be: “The year of RE…”

My Process

It then goes without saying that when God communicates His will to us, He certainly makes statements. I believe this earthquake that shook Victoria, Melbourne in Australia on September 22, 2021 though this may not have been the only purpose, was intended to bring our attention to what God is doing. It is always our responsibility to align with His will and pray: “…Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven… (Matthew 6:10).” To avoid putting my own words in as if God has said them (which as of yet, He has not done so audibly but has certainly done so by way of the words He knows will grab my attention), I will share what I have researched pertaining to what occurred during the original Victorian era in anticipation of what I believe we can expect in the time to come (I cannot add a date because God has not given me one as yet).

God has trained me to be able to test where information is coming from—third heaven or the enemy. I cannot say I have always gotten it right, I do not know. What I do know is: I do not watch television. For those who may be curious as to what I mean, I always recommend that we do not place God inside of a box because He is much bigger and much more creative than we can imagine. In Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV God says: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways”, declares the Lord, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” If we then make Him as small as our minds will allow, we will sadly miss all the ways in which He chooses to communicate to us that: He is GOD. Moreover, Proverbs 25:2 NIV tells us this: “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” God has been taking me on scavenger hunts since 2019. He always helps me to find what He intends for me to find. Therefore, there are times when I KNOW without doubt that He is taking me on an adventure. This is one of these times.

For example, I mention that I do not watch television because as I walked to where a t.v was on at the time, the word “era” was spoken so loudly, that I could not ignore it—this was this morning. I have been working on this post (waiting for confirmation) of what I am now sharing since the day following this earthquake. Every day since, God has drawn my attention to words that I do not hear often, but that are all connected to this post. He has woken me up in the nights for the past few nights. I thought it was so I could pray but as I have been trying to pray and sensing difficulty in being able to do so, the first thing that came to mind was that I am currently in disobedience (delayed obedience). At this point, I no longer need any more confirmations that God is acknowledging that I should release what He has given me to share.

Here is what took place during the Victorian era:

This “year of RE” post is important because the time period that birthed the Reform Act 1832 rallied around standards of religion which was reflected in this Act.

Legislative Reform/Political Reform

-Overhaul of the electoral system for voting

The Reform Act 1832 leading up to the beginning of Queen Victoria’s reign essentially dramatically changed the electoral system of England and Wales. This means changes to voting: who would count as a legitimate voter and not, as well as representation for areas that formally had none and vice versa for reasons outlined in the Reform Act 1832 Wikipedia page that I recommend you take time to go through, as a way of knowing information for yourselves.

-A two-party system: Whigs (liberal) and Conservatives saw the addition of the Labour Party towards the end of the Victorian era.

-Credited to this era are well known politicians described as “prominent statesmen (Wikipedia.com)”

Technological advances

There was a large amount of inventions during this time that according to Wikipedia.com, “proved key to Britain’s power and prosperity.”

Medicine

Because the way in which this is phrased in my opinion is intentionally done by God, I will not add or take away from the integrity of what is already written, which is why I am using a direct quote: “modern medicine saw the light of day thanks to the adoption of the germ theory of disease and pioneering research in epidemiology…multiple studies suggest that on the per-capita basis, the numbers of significant innovations in science and technology and of scientific geniuses peaked during the Victorian era and have been on the decline ever since.”

Since the emergence of COVID-19, have we not seen or heard more of epidemiology than ever before? Allow me to pose another question: Is it possible that because this era reintroduced God into their society, God blessed them abundantly in these areas? Imagine what is possible when this happens again.

Social Reform

According to Wikipedia.com, during this era “unprecedented demographic changes” took place. Many of the countries’ population in and around Great Britain expanded and quickly. Ireland however experienced a decline in their population due to the Great Famine.

Educational Reform

The citizens of Great Britain “approached universal literacy towards the end of the era but also became increasingly well-educated; the market for reading materials of all kinds boomed (Wikipedia.com).”

Military Alliances

A mutual dislike of Russia and subsequent wars led to the creation of the League of Nations which included five memberships allocated to Britain, France, Italy, Japan, and The United States (the US did not accept this membership).

Political Reform

-Overhaul of the electoral system for voting (explain)

-A two-party system: Whigs (liberal) and Conservatives saw the addition of the Labour Party towards the end of the Victorian era.

-Credited to this era are well known politicians described as “prominent statesmen (Wikipedia.com).”

I challenge you to

Seek God in prayer about whether this is true or not. My reputation (lack thereof) doesn’t mean more to me than you receiving your own confirmation from God about what I am sharing. It is time you all stop trusting people because something sounds or seems favorable. Instead, consult God. Allow Him to lead you through the process He has designed for you to be able to understand what your role will be in what He is doing.
